[va-bird] waxwing morning (w/photos)

As I poked around my kitchen in the late morning, looking for an early
lunch, I noticed a flurry of activity in the trees behind our townhome.
Indeed it was our "one day a year of waxwings" which we seem to get once a
year.

Over 2 dozen CEDAR WAXWINGS swept through, whistling their high pitched
chatter. These are a real treat for us here, although I realize their not
uncommon. Our neighbors on each side always tell me "When there's a
'neat' bird out back, let us know." Today I was able to impress! One of
our neighbors had 3 girlfriends in from out of town and the Waxwings were
a bird a couple of them had never seen.

The birds were kind enough to indulge me in digiscoping them a bit too!

2 RED BELLIED WOODPECKERS barked nearby, as a squirrel tried to get in a
sunny nap on a tree limb. JUNCOs were present in good numbers as well.

Happy sunny Saturday birding,
