I have noticed the same thing here in Front Royal. The interesting thing is
that they are roosting very close to a major 2 lane highway on Route 340 at
the Criser Road intersection.

there is now a huge, huge vulture roost in great falls, va at the end of
springvale road at beach mill road near the restaurant, L'Auberge Chez
Francois - it started a few weeks ago and has now escalated to the point of
being about 400 vultures - mixed black and turkey - every afternoon around
4pm, they start coming in - the sky is filled with them - and this morning
at 7am, they were up and starting out - there are now always some roosting
during the day in the pine tress near the restaurant - i am surprised that
there hasn't been a big outcry from someone around the area about getting
rid of them - if anyone has any insight in to why this is happening, i would
love to know - have lived here for almost 23 years and have never seen
anything quite like it - christie huffman
