At Hunting Creek this morning I found a stilt sandpiper amongst a group
of yellowlegs shortly before the rising tide covered the flats. The
bird appeared to be an adult that was mostly in non-breeding plumage,
with faint vertical bars still visible on the lower flanks. Also on the
flats were spotted, least, semipalmated and pectoral sandpipers,
short-billed dowitcher, both yellowlegs, and killdeer.
