I think if we go birding near public parks, or facilities that might
cause problems, best thing to do is carry your birding guide that has markings
in it, what you have seen, or a lifelist or 'state list book. It helps , if you
look really nerdy too. Spys do not look nerdy, do they?
Of course, this comes from someone who has been looked at by the police
at Mt. Weather. I had a 600mm lens on at the time and my bins and no ID. This
is before I became a VA citizen. Fact was, I was too close to a fence,
looking for the carcass that Turkey vultures were feeding on.
It is still a running joke and more so , as I now live next door to a
Mt. Weather cop.
