Wondering if any Ernesto birds were at
Leesylvania State Park on Saturday afternoon I
spent couple of hours there. Didn't see any
unusual terns or gulls but did find a sanderling
under the oaks and maples near the river shore
eating earthworms. It could fly but it looked
like some of its wing was injured, sticking out
above the rest, and it only flew a short distance
when I first saw it. From then on it ran. Also
saw hundreds of swallows skimming over the water
in the distance too far to identify.
AM off on a field trip with students now. WIll
report on yesterday's trip to upper NNK later.
