(I've been trying to post this all week, but for some reason my posts weren't
going through, sorry this is late, but I figured I'd still post it, despite
being upstaged by folks having kinglets sit on their hands!) :)
For some horrible reason, I have all but given up birding for the past two or
so weeks. I suppose a combination of the cold and the rain have made me want
to stay indoors more than usual.
But, Sunday around 3pm, I strolled out to the back deck to see if I could
spot any birds. My eye was draw almost immediately to a tiny bird up in a
tree - backlit of course. Thinking "Well, darn it, that's smaller than a
chickadee!" I ran and got my binoculars.
Within seconds it had flow into a tree within 15 feet of the deck and I got
great looks at what I id'ed as a ruby crownded kinglet!
It may not be too exciting, but it's only the first or second time I've caught
sight of them in the backyard!
