Hello birders
I made a quick stop at Burke Lake this morning
around 10:30. There is a little open water
between the boat rental place and the island
where there were a few hundred waterfowl
including some gorgeous drake redheads but no
mergansers.
130 Canada Geese
210 ring-necked ducks
175 scaup, mostly lesser but at least 5 greater
3 male and 2 female redheads
65 mallards
25 ruddy ducks
2 american wigeon
20 ring-billed gull
6 coot (comically walking on the ice)
1 red-tailed hawk
1 hermit thrush
All the best
Fred
