Between 0500 and 0600 in Cape Charles, there was a heavy flight of thrushes
(one Veery, 100+ Swainson's, dozens of Gray-cheeked, maybe one Bicknell's),
sparrows (mostly sounded like Spizella but at least 3 Grasshopper), a
Dickcissel
(not unusual), 20 or so Green Herons, a Least Bittern (which called twice,
from out over the Bay), and lots of unidentified warblers. Birds are abundant
in
town today, esp. catbirds, redstarts, and later-migrating warblers.
