Open windows in the summer is the best feeling! This morning I was awakened by
a bird call that I didn't recognize (which isn't rare) and one that I hadn't
heard a lot out back. Tired as I was, I headed out back. As always, it was
gone by the time I got out there. The best typing impersonation I can do
is "whhiiiiiir whhiiiiiir dee-dee-dee". Any clues?
The hummingbirds are so active - I have at least three that like to chase tail
all morning. It's hard to concentrate on any other bird when the hummingbirds
are constantly buzzing around!
I did get to see a "new" addition to the summertime crowd - I think it was a
Red-Eyed Vireo - or, maybe a Warbling Vireo. I listened to my bird CD for the
red-eyed's song, but it was not the song I had heard earlier in the morning. I
only got two short (but good) looks at whatever bird I saw, and it was
definately overall grey, with a lighter belly and stripes on its head.
In any case, without the windows open, I'da been still asleep!
