The Lincoln's Sparrow returned this morning, except for when the squirrels
invaded and drove him away. Adding to my life list seems to be the theme for
this week, and today was no different: saw my first [singing] Norther Parula.
In addition, I had a black and white warbler (my 2nd ever), magnolia warbler,
baltimore oriole, great crested flycatcher, american redstart, and one calling
pileated. the "normal" birds (red-bellied, downy, towhees, titmice, chicadees,
etc.) abounded.
I did see 3 birds I couldn't identify (despite flipping furiously through
Sibley, Peterson, and Audubon!): one had a kinglet body,Waterthrush chest
striping, and no eyeband (perhaps a ring, I can't remember now). Another
unidentified bird was very plane, had an eye band, was mostly creme/tan, but
had a grey cap on its head (also warbler looking). The third was probably some
sort of thrush - only got to see its backside.
