A nice morning flight of Red-taileds occurred today, along with good numbers of
Red-shouldereds and Sharpies. The steady stream of vultures was impressive, as
well.
Notable birds: an adult Red-tail of the calurus (western) subspecies; the light
subadult Swainson's that has been lingering since the 23rd. I got some
(hopefully) passable photos as the bird circled low in front then drifted
higher to the Southwest. One interesting bird was a juvenile Cooper's hawk
that I've seen three times in the past two weeks with missing tail and wing
feathers. The tail looks almost swallow-tailed.

After catching over half of the trappable flight yesterday, Deniz had to settle
for a bit less today. But, she made up for lesser numbers with an impressive
capture of her third juvenile Red-shouldered hawk of the season, along with two
Red-tails and a Sharp-shinned hawk. It was a frustrating day watching the scads
of RTs pass without even a look, but she stuck it out and did ok.
