[va-bird] dead CT Warbler in Oakton, Fairfax Co 9/22/06

After returning from the marine science field
trip this afternoon (9/24) I went into my biolab
to feed the lab critters and was greeted by the
smell of death. But all my critters were alive.
Further investigation of my very cluttered desk
revealed a plastic bag with a note on it from the
grounds crew "Bird Found dead behind school
loading dock". Inside was a ripe smelling
Connecticut warbler, giving the best view I have
ever had of the really long undertail coverts,
nearly reaching the tip of the tail. Sad. Very
sad.

All the best
fred
