I found a nice adult chipping sparrow at Leesylvania State Park this morning.
Kurt Gaskill found one there yesterday, so this is probably the same bird. It
was with a flock of juncos on the side of the hill below the ruins. Also in
this area were field, white-throated and song sparrows, e. bluebird, n.
flicker, t. titmouse, c. chickadee, wb nuthatch, am. robin, and yellow-rumped
warbler. Two red-shouldered hawks were mating in a tree along Neabsco Rd. near
Rt. 1. The Potomac was pretty barren, with only a few lesser scaup and a
single bufflehead. A small flock of common mergansers were up Powell's creek.
