Since yesterday (5/20) noon I have seen 300-350
cedar waxwings flying north over Oakton (Flint
HIll School) and Reston (W&OD Bike Trail) in
flocks numbering from 10 to 100. Nice to see so
many after such a paucity all winter.
Also present at W&OD Bike trail this afternoon
were Blackpoll warbler, both oriole species,
indigo buntings, and a blue grosbeak. A gray
cheeked thrush was seen and heard singing along
Difficult Run this afternoon near Leeds Rd.
Yesterday Morning at Little Rocky Run
neighborhood (near Centerville HS) I had 3
Blackpolls, a redstart and a Blackburnian from my
brother's deck while eating breakfast.
All the best
Fred
