Although both these species are fairly common here all year long, they
predicitably appear at the two red mulberry trees around the Refuge office
in the spring. This year, as if on cue, here they are again checking out
the trees, a delightful testament to the capability of a bird's brain to
remember phenological timing and locations of favored food sources.
Unfortunately, the berries are not ripe yet.
