Hi folks,
Please take a moment to read this message regarding drilling in the
Arctic NWR.  Within you will find a link to a sample letter that you can
personalize and send directly to Senator Warner straight from the
Audubon webpage.  Or alternatively, contact him at the number below.  It
only takes a minute and is more critical this year than it ever was.
Keep in mind that BP, Conoco/Phillips, and Chevron/Texaco have all
pulled out of the initiative, leaving ExxonMobile as the sole remaining
big oil company still interested in lobbying for arctic drilling.
Doesn't that say something about prospects for oil here?

Aimee Weldon

Subject: Your Help Needed Now Your Senator to Cast Deciding Vote on
Arctic Drilling on Tuesday

YOUR HELP URGENTLY NEEDED!!! HISTORIC VOTE ON ARCTIC REFUGE SET FOR THIS
TUESDAY!!!

March 11, 2005

This is it, Auduboners! This is the critical moment in a titanic 20-year
debate to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil and gas
drilling!

Congressional insiders report that the U.S. Senate is prepared to vote
on the future of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge on Tuesday, March
15! The Senate vote is too close to call, with the pro-drillers and
their allies in the White House pulling out all the stops, making all
the promises, twisting all the arms they can to win over just one more
Senator. And one of those lawmakers is your U.S. Senator Sen. John W.
Warner.

As you well know, this proposal to attach Arctic drilling to the budget
is nothing more than a back-door, underhanded way to avoid a fair and
open debate on one of the most controversial issues Congress will tackle
this year, or any year. Staffers for your Senator indicate he hasn't
quite made up his mind as to whether he will support efforts to include
Arctic drilling in the budget. It will take a tremendous outpouring of
concern from constituents like you who are concerned for environmental
protection - people like you, your family and friends - to convince the
Senator to make the right decision about the Arctic Refuge!

This is it! If you ever planned to weigh in on this Arctic issue, now,
today, is the time to do so! And ask your family and friends to do the
same!

Never before have the pro-drillers been this close to getting the drills
into America's most pristine wildlife refuge. Please contact Sen. John
W. Warner and urge him to oppose any and all efforts to include Arctic
drilling revenues in the FY06 budget. You can reach your Senator by
calling 202-224-2023.

And if we can ask you to do one more thing, please help spread the word
throughout your community on this vote by submitting a letter to the
editor of your local paper! We've made it easy for you - just click on
this link now to instantly review, edit to fit your personal style, or
blast as is to the papers in your area today!
