Thanks to Kurt Gaskill, Val Kitchen and Bev Leeuenberg for the ID tips. The
consensus is that to positively ID the Yellow-bellied the throat and chin
must be yellow.
Ah, live and learn! All empids can have yellow bellies to varying degrees.
Next time I will look at the throat. The bird I saw this afternoon may have
had a yellow throat, I just can't say. I saw all that yellow and got all
excited and then it flew off. Next time I'll know what it look for.
