Good call that the fall migration of the Yellow Warblers may be manifesting
around Arlington. Just now I was watching a Downy Woodpecker working along our
backyard cherry tree when more movement caught my eye and I found a Yellow
Warbler working in the same tree only about ten feet outside my window. Then,
while I watched it, the Downy flew over and started working on insects in the
window encasement about a foot from my nose!
I'm no maven but I'd call the Yellow a first-year bird. Cheers,
