Two Wood Ducks, a male and female, afforded my wife and I great views as they
landed on a limb right outside our kitchen window this morning. They flew into
the woods on the side of the house, checked out a couple of tree cavities and
then, unfortunately, departed. While they frequent the ponds in our
neighborhood we have never had them in our woods before (the nearest pond is
several hundred yards away).
Two male Purple Martins checked out my neighbor's purple martin hotel this
morning (two others checked out the hotel on Wednesday) - so far, none have
stayed.
