In case some of you have not noticed, the film "Winged Migration," which was
written up on the list serve last Fall, has arrived in the DC area. Sunday's
Post listed it at 4 area theaters. It started playing in Fairfax last Friday
and will be at the Cinema Arts Theater, according to the person with whom I
spoke this afternoon, until the end of July.
On a less cheerful subject, I, too, found that the Song Sparrow nesting in my
yard raised a Brown-headed Cowbird this time. The Cowbird has fledged, and
other than pestering the sparrows for food which they are no longer providing,
seems to be well on its way to independence. Other fledglings that have been
hard to miss are two families of Cardinals, two families of Downy Woodpeckers,
and at least one family of House Finches. The House Wren finally found a mate
this past Tuesday, June 24, 2003, which seems late to me.
