Some time early last spring, I was considering purchasing and asked opinions
(to BIRDCHAT) regarding Eagle Optics Platinum Class Ranger 10x50s and
received a number of excellent responses. One of those responses promoted
Leupold's Wind River bins as a comparable unit. I purchased two pairs of
the EOs and subsequently had them stolen last week from my vehicle on a
birding trip to VA/NC. Happily, insurance came through and I am considering
the Wind River P1 10x50s as a replacement (mostly because the EOs are
backordered until October). Does anyone have any feedback concerning this
unit (durability, weatherproofing etc)? Spec-wise they are pretty much the
same.
Incidentally my laptop with archived email files of all the responses I
received last spring is gone as well...word to the wise, hide your scopes,
bins, two-ways, etc (heck they even took my Sibley guide), or lock them up
in a secure place while you are out birding.
