[va-bird] Wilson's Warbler at Dyke? And Jackson Abbott.

Hi VAbirders,

This morning I birded Dyke Marsh for a couple hours and then made a quick
stop at Jackson Abbott Wetlands on the way home.

Has anyone seen a Wilson's Warbler at Dyke lately? I thought I heard one
and then got a glimpse of what looked like one flying away from me. I
pursued it, heard it again, got another glimpse as it flew further south on
the trail, then lost the frustrating little stinker. My first glimpse was
at Dead Beaver Beach.

Other good and more cooperative birds were a Baltimore Oriole dad feeding a
youngster, Yellow Warbler, N. Parula, Summer Tanager, Indigo Bunting, and
Least Bittern (at the end of the boardwalk).

Jackson Abbott held a few nice surprises as well including:

**A family of Great Blue Herons, dad, mom, and fledgling. Talk about a BIG
baby!

**Cedar Waxwings hawking in the middle of the marsh. Cool to watch!

**Eastern Kingbird

**Northern Rough-wing Swallows coming CLOSE to my face. I've never seen
them so close. Maybe I looked like a giant bug????? ;-)

**A particularly inquisitive and vocal Common Yellowthroat who sat in a
pine tree only a few feet above my head watching me and singing for me. He
sure showed star quality!

**Pine Warbler, at least 2 trilling in the tall Pines along the entrance
road leading to the wetlands.

**Red-shouldered Hawk calling its haunting call.

**Great Egret

Today's weather was a welcome relief from the rain, heat, and
humidity...and there were hardly any bugs either! What a treat!
