[va-bird] White-winged Dove in Suffolk - GONE

Hi everyone,

If you remember, I had a White-winged Dove here at my house in Suffolk, VA.
I thought it would be gone after a day or two but it stayed around for more
than a week. I was going to try to allow some birders in this week but I
haven't seen it since Saturday. I'm sorry I wasn't able to allow a lot of
birders to view this bird. I live in a gated property and share the gate
with other people.

What was interesting was the fact that at first there were NO Mourning Doves
in the area. There really haven't been any since the hurricane. While the
White-wing was alone he seemed content to hang around the feeder all day.
Then a "gang" of Mourning Doves showed up last week. In fact all around the
northern part of Suffolk the Mourning Dove population shot up with that cold
front that passed through. Anyway, I don't know if they "muscled" him away
but it seems the White-wing didn't like the company!

If anyone else has a feeder out in my neck of the woods you may want to
double-check any doves feeding there. You may be rewarded with a great yard
bird. AND if the White-wing shows back up I'll see if I can arrange a day
or two for organized groups to come in.

Everyone have a safe & happy Thanksgiving.
