Hello all
Pat & I decided to take a little trip to the Eastern Shore this weekend to
catch up on some year birds . We netted around 85 species . Our target birds
were all the Herons which we got except for the Yellow - crowned Night Heron .
Yesterday afternoon at Chincoteague in Snow Goose Pool on the side where the
paved trail which I think is called Black Duck Trail . We were scanning out
several groups of Glossy Ibis & as it turned out the 3 birds that were the
closest to us one was a White - faced Ibis . It was nice to have a Glossy & an
Imm. all in the same scope field to show the difference between a Glossy &
White - faced . In the two days we got most of our target birds . We skunked
out on the Black Rail , Virginia Rail & Sora . When we were over at Saxis we
ran into Tom Pendleton who also was looking for the Black Rails . We did get
Seaside Sparrow & Marsh Wren PLUS a bonus of about a million west nile
factories . Other target birds were & gotten as follows .
Red - throated Loon -- near Toms Cove
Brown Pelican
Glossy Ibis -- about 100+ at Chincoteague
White -- faced Ibis -- 1
Clapper Rail
Piping Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Am. Oystercatcher
Black -- necked Stilt
Willet
Dunlin
Semipalmated Sandpiper
