VA BIRDers,

Jay Keller and I noted two Whip-poor-wills calling in Prince William Forest
Park this cold morning.

After sunrise, a visit to the Possum Point area produced pretty much the
same thing as yesterday - Wood Thrush replaced the two vireos and the same
species of warblers were noted.  Yellow-throated (9) and Black & White (4)
were the major components, singles or doubles of No. Parula, Yellow-rumped,
Pine, Prairie, Palm, LA Waterthrush and Common Yellowthroat.

Regarding the "Myrtle" Warbler question, for those of you who received the
CVWO Spring newsletter, Bob Ake's article indicated that the Kiptopeke
Station 2004 Fall capture rate of this species was down and the lowest since
1999; I think it was off by 20% or more from typical rates.  Dr. Bob Reilly
(VCU) remarked to me in late Oct that the eastern seaboard banding station
capture rates of Myrtle were down at that point; I do not know the final
figures.  (At that time, the mid-west stations had reported near-typical
capture rates.).  Some of these aspects will be touched upon in the upcoming
CVWO Annual Report - free to members (individuals/families or organizations
can be members, contact me for more information).
