Hi: All
After watching the weather forecast on TV, Thursday looked kike the best day
for a while for birding. My Wife and a Friend, and I decided to try our luck
on eastern shore. we arrived at the banding station around 9 Am
in time to wittiness Jethro frustration over losing the Lark Sparrow. We
tried with no luck to relocated the
sparrow. After hanging banding station for a while we decided to check the
field ponds on Capeville Rd . the pond between Rt 13 and Areolation Rd had
Mosley yellow legs did find a Baired's and a Pectoral Sandpiper. The
Pond on the other side of 13 had dried up. After a not so great of a lunch at
the Golden Arecas, it was off to Oyster where we found a high tide and no
birds. After leaving Oyster we man a stop at the North Hampton Land Fill. Best
birds found 2-Cattle egret, Glossy Ibis, Snowy Egrets, and Little Blue Herons.
There were 1000s of Gulls that I didn't take time to sort out. The birding
along 600 back to Fishermen's Island was slow didn't even see and Swallows.
They had been every where the week before At the end of Mogotha Rd off 600 We
Found 5- Whimbrels, 2-Red Headed Woodpeckers, Spotted sandpiper, Marsh Wren,
Field Sparrows, and a Yellow Warbler. In all we had 77 spices for the day.
