[va-bird] West Indian Whistling-Duck

The West Indian Whistling-Duck present yesterday between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.
at the Great Dismal Swamp (at 36 degrees 37.214 N, 76 degrees 31.487 W) could
not be found in this vicinity this morning between 6:45 and 10:00 a.m.; Bob
Ake, Tom Gwynn, Don Schwab, Tom Pendleton, and I looked as hard as we could!
Visiting birders from New Hampshire also saw and photographed the
whistling-duck yesterday.

Two Beaver were seen, and many birds were seen and heard at the beaver dam
and farther south and east to Lake Drummond: Scarlet Tanager, Summer Tanager,
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Swainson's Warbler (about 15 heard), Yellow-billed
Cuckoo, Indigo Bunting, Prairie, Pine, Prothonotary, Worm-eating,
Black-throated Green, Black-and-white, Yellow-throated, and Yellow-rumped
Warblers as well as Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat, Northern Parula, Northern
and Louisiana Waterthrushes, and American Redstart. Last Saturday, small
numbers of Black-billed Cuckoos were seen in the Swamp, the first report for
the state this year.
