The two messages that just showed up were written awhile back, right after
this stupid software I use quit working. The program just fixed itself and
sent out all the queued messages, so consider them a diversion in the
summer doldrums.
FWIW, the Southside report was written Thursday, June 30 and the Screech
Owl report Monday, June 27. A little internet research on the Owl
indicates that it is not like the Great Horned Owl. Only one person
reported blood being drawn by an ESOW :-). Still, it was an unnerving
experience.
Also, a Greater Yellowlegs in breeding plummage has been active in Cameron
Run in Alexandria the last few days, at Eisenhower Ave. and Bluemont, and
at Eisenhower Ave. east of there before the Run goes under 495, where you
can park along the driveway to end office complex. (I hope this makes
sense)
Good birding,
John Fox
