Chris French, Jan Brutcher, Gene keefe, and Mary Floyd led a group of twenty
two birders at Huntley Meadows Park this morning from 0700 to 0930. The skies
were clear, the winds wer calm, and the temperature was warm. The highlights
were a Sora and a Virginia Rail. Many rats were seen foraging in the rushes;
each sighting of a rodent brought up the false cry, "Black Rail!" The
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers were in the trees, low in the canopy, in large numbers.
There were more birders than birds in the Park this morning.
