VA Birders,
After our Chincoteague weekend, Pat Blyer, Mari Noster, Marv & Mary Kaye
Rubin, and I spent Sunday night on the Northern Neck, at the Best Western in
Warsaw, and went birding at Washington's Birthplace this morning. We had a
gorgeous day with blue skies and no snow, and a good variety of waterfowl.
Highlights included 12 Tundra Swans, an estimated 300 Canvasbacks, 4 Redheads,
18
Ring-necked Ducks, 100 Greater Scaup, 30 Common Goldeneyes, 30 Common
Mergansers, and 6 Bald Eagles. We also had 2 Mute Swans there.
A scope is recommended in order to get good views of many of the
waterfowl.
