Howdy all,
The last three days have brought in quite a few warblers into the area,
composed of eight species.
Todays bandings and sightings:
NORTHERN PARULA -- 1 banded, 3 others singing
YELLOW PALM -- 2 banded, 2 others seen
PRAIRIE -- 1 seen
BLACK-AND-WHITE -- 2 seen
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT -- 2 banded, 1 other seen
YELLOW-RUMPED -- 10+ seen
PINE -- 1 banded, 8+ singing/seen
GREEN HERON -- 1 seen, Bob Loomis saw one yesterday.
Also today, there was an increase in the number of Hermit Thrushes and
Ruby-crowned Kinglets. It seems most of the ones we have banded earlier in the
season have pushed out and a new batch has moved in.
On the 5th we banded an early HOODED WARBLER and yesterday (6th) we banded a
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO.
There is not a ton of birds here at the station yet, but there is sure a nice
mix of birds. The mornings have been great, only wish the banding was on the
same level!
By the way, we banded 9 today.
STILL waiting on the Yellow-throated Warbler and Louisiana Waterthrush to
show up here.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
