Warbler Bonanza - Bear Mountain, Highland County

I traveled to Highland County today to help kick off the newly formed Bear
Mountain Hawk Watch. There was a definite chill in the air with a steady
breeze from the NW but an overall pleasant afternoon. On return drive I was
within 25 yards of US Route 250 on Bear Mountain Road and noted quite a bit
of activity along the fence line close to the road. A small flock of VESPER
SPARROW AND FIELD SPARROW were flitting back and forth across the narrow
graveled road. I then caught glimpses of yellow here and there, in and out
the brush. In fact, it was yellow everywhere!! To my surprise, there were
quite a few warblers actively moving about the underbrush. The time was
approximately 3:45 p.m. EDST. The list with few links follow. It is
important to note that this spot is in direct line, less than one mile south
of the proposed wind turbines on Red Oak Knob!
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER - small flock of 6 (1 individual photographed)
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER (1) a lovely adult male! I tried so hard to get a photo
but it stayed on lower back side of bush, always with at least one leave
hiding part of the face.
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER - 5 (2 adult males and at least 1 female
(photographed))
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER - 2 (including 2 females (photographed))
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER - 1 (female)
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET - 2
