I hope I am not breaking any listserve rules
with this request but the Gt.
Dismal Swamp NWR needs your help and this seems
the best way to contact the
best people.
Volunteers Needed to assist with several
different bird surveys on the
Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. I
would like to establish two
(2) to (4) teams of two (2) individuals to
conduct breeding bird
surveys/point-counts (i.e. not "The" Breeding
Bird Survey)within various
habitats in the North Carolina (Camden, Gates &
Pasquotank Co.s) and
Virginia (Cities of Chesapeake & Suffolk)
portions of the Refuge.
Volunteers are required to be able to identify
birds by sight and by
calls/songs. Volunteers will be required to
fill out a Volunteer Form
before becoming official.
The Surveys would start in May, 2005 (and
continue through July, maybe
early August) but I would like to get
volunteers on in mid-April to discuss
the particulars. If you're interested you can
contact me Don Schwab at the
above e-mail, via telephone at the number
below, or my office e-mail
donald_schwab@xxxxxxx. Thank-you and come
visit the refuge even if your
not going to volunteer - April and May are
great bird months.
