Hey Birders,
Most of the beach is without power....why I am lucky enough to have it I will
never know! There, of course is lots of damage as those of you reading this
on the 19th will be able to see on TV. At my house (10 miles from the beach as
the crow flies) did very well with minor damages.
During the storm I left 2 feeders out for the birds....AMAZING! Those little
guys were feeding like CRAZY! How they held on and could fly to the feeders is
beyond me. There was not one time during the storm that I didn't look out and
see birds feeding. We maintained power until 4pm the day of the storm so we
slept with the windows open that night. I woke up at 3:30 am to the sound of
Canada Geese...BEAUTIFUL. At daybreak I went out and put up all the feeders and
the birds rapidly emptied them. At noon we drove across town to check on my
parents. Along the route we passed by Honey Bee Golf Course and looked up on
the
platform to see how the Osprey nest fared! I'll tell you one thing, Osprey
know how to build a good solid home!
Sorry I can't relate more...but I am too sore and tired from clearing our big
willow tree and will spend the day tomorrow doing the same thing.
I do hope everyone fared well in Virginia!
