Well, en route to the Vienna Metro, walking past the drainage pond near
townhouses at intersection of Nutley and Marshall/Sutton, if you look up
from the goose droppings you can see quite a bit.
For some reason there are more chimney swifts around our neighborhood
(Cottage Street SW) on a daily basis, and two of these were spotted over the
pond with a few barn swallows.
Her Majesty Great Blue Heron was standing around with a Black Crowned Night
Heron at the Metro end of the water.
Red wing blackbirds, cardinals, mallards, and families of Canada geese with
an average of two young apiece.
After the last time I was mauled by a red-wing, I held a case over my head
for good measure, but everyone seems to be settled down by now with nests in
full bloom.
It may not be a big day but it makes the work day easier to face!
