As I was getting ready for a morning walk, a vesper sparrow (a life bird
for me) did me the favor of coming into my back yard. I've seen reports of
them in Haymarket and eastern Virginia, but none yet this year in the
Shenandoah Valley. It has been here most of the morning, off and on. I
got great looks and just hope the photos turn out well!
Kudos to Allen Larner for leading the very productive trip in Augusta
County last Saturday. I saw three life birds: Savannah sparrow, Greater
scaup, and Loggerhead shrike.
