While walking out to pick up my paper this morning I observed two American
Kestrels, a male and a female, flying together over my neighbor's yard. The
male was carrying some kind of prey until a crow arrived and harassed the male
into dropping the prey. Hoping that one of the birds would return for the prey
I noted where the item fell but did not go over to it at that time. About 15
minutes later I did check it out and found out it was a Savannah Sparrow -
guess Kestrels were once called Sparrow Hawks for a reason.
