Huntley Meadows this morning had 17 tundra swans when I arrived, and one when I
left. Much circling and calling took place as a group of 6 swans took off,
joined soon by others. After flying out of sight, the group returned for six
who had stayed behind. A great deal of conversation and numerous fly-bys
enticed all but one. The group flew off northwest.
Also seen were 6 pair of green-wings, 5 pair of gadwall, and a trio of hooded
mergansers, plus the usual mallards and Canadas.
There was a fox sparrow about 100 feet out on the boardwalk. It stayed in the
trees and bushes.
