Birders -
Had a great trip with Jen Folts and Sandy Holton to Highland County, with a
short visit to Bath County. Weather was windy and cold,
but weatherwise it really was good. The wind did keep the passerines down
and out of sight, but
we persevered and had 49 species. Best birds were 3 Golden Eagles and 5
Balds, AND we
actually had a Ruffed Grouse thanks to Jen's keen eyesight, plus RB Nuts and
American Pipits.
The real surprise bird was an Eastern Phoebe - at Lake Moomaw at the
overlook! Guess he enjoys
his insectivorous treats frozen!
