I drove up (from Virginia Beach) to Chincoteague yesterday (10/19/06). It was
rather quiet bird-wise (only 51 species) but a great day to be outdoors.
Besides the abundant yellow-rumps, ducks and geese, I found a late Tricolored
Heron along with the expected wading birds including several immature and one
adult Black-crowned Night-Herons, 2 American Avocets, a mixed flock of Willets
and Marbled Godwits, 2 Dunlin, both yellowlegs, and a few Tree Swallows
(nothing unusual seen with the small flocks).

PS I was at Craney on Oct 19, 2006 with Ben Copeland and Jane Frigo. The only
birds of note that day were five American Avocets and a single Buff-breasted
Sandpiper.
