All,
I birded Thompson WMA for a few hours this morning starting at the lower
portion near Lake Thompson and then proceeding to the upper portion near
parking area 6.
Notable birds at the lower portion were a singing LA Waterthrush, one
Orchard Oriole, one singing Scarlet Tanager, Purple Finch, and two
Blue-winged Warblers (one singing a very Golden-winged like song).
Notable birds at the upper portion were Hooded Warbler (several),
American Redstart (many), Cerulean Warbler (2 - one very cooperative
near the trail and quite viewable), Great Crested Flycatcher, Wood
Thrush, and Ovenbird (several).
