Some 10 NVBC members braved the showers this morning at the heights of
Thompson WMA , and were rewarded with mostly glimpses of migrant warblers and
vireo's . Viewing conditions were very poor so it was a great help that some
of
the warblers gave partial songs including the Nashville , Hooded , American
Redstart and Black-throated Blue.We found two mixed feeding flocks but I
estimate that we missed a good portion of the total species because of the
weather.
Anyway good sign that warbler migration is getting underway here in
N.Virginia.
