[va-bird] Thompson WMA, Fauquier County, 25 May

Hola,

The Northern Virginia Bird Club sponsored a walk today at the G. Richard
Thompson WMA in northwestern Fauquier County. We started at seven-thirty AM,
walked at a leisurely pace along a loop from the Trillium Trail parking area
and finished at about ten AM. Highlights were a very vocal Barred Owl, lots
of
Cerulean Warblers, lots of American Redstarts, a few Hooded Warblers, two
Kentucky Warblers, a few Yellow-throated Vireos, an obliging Scarlet Tanager,
and a few Acadian Flycatchers and Eastern Wood-Pewees. Unfortunately the
Ceruleans and Kentuckys weren't particularly cooperative, with only a couple
Ceruleans affording a glimpse here and there.

The wildflowers that usually draw people to the area were all past peak.
The trees were fully leafed out, adding to the difficulty of seeing many of
these birds.

The eBird list follows.

Cheers,

Todd
