I arrived at the Preserve mid morning to a chorus of bird song which
persisted throughout my walk, the dominant voices being SCARLET TANAGER, WOOD
THRUSH
and EASTERN TOWHEE. The warblers and vireos also chimed in.
Warblers included KENTUCKY (great look), HOODED, CERULEAN, WORM-EATING,
OVENBIRD, and REDSTART. Vireos included YELLOW-THROATED, BLUE-HEADED, and
RED-EYED.
The trilliums are still in good bloom. Other eye-catchers now include
geranium and star chickweed, and of course, the yellow lady's slipper which is
in
its early state of bloom.
