[va-bird] Re: The debate is legitimate and so is the forum

Judging a person's tone in an email can sometimes be tough.
I could easily read Paula's note as being sincere and compassionate for a
wounded animal. I could also easily read Suzanne's reply as being a sincere
and
honest "thank you."

I could also read them both as being sarcastic and sniping. Sometimes it's
hard to tell the true feeling of the author without emoticons or some sort of
punctuation.

I know Paula and I've never found her to have "the naive and ignorant
attitude of the
protectionists and animal rights extremists." From my conversations with
her, she seems to have an excellent understanding of the natural world in
suburbia and beyond, including problems caused by deer and geese and people,
etc.
Her understanding of those things certainly exceeds mine, but that's not hard
to
do! ;-)

Anyhow, is it possible that Paula and Suzanne were just having a friendly
conversation and the rest of us jumped the gun (pun intended)? That's what I'm
choosing to believe. But I've been called naive a few times in my life too!!
;-)
