I did a little scouting for the CBC on the 14th. Best birds were 10 savannah
sparrows and 5 horned larks in rapidly developing Vint Hill. I am hoping
some of the mailboxes I stuffed seeking access to interesting looking
properties
will pay off.
I'd love to be able to get more birders to take advantage of some of the new
access. Most teams should have some access to Lake Manassas, as well as
various agricultural and residential areas. And if you want to drive around a
golf
course in a cart looking for birds, this is your sector. We had access to
three different courses, and have turned up some nice birds at each. There is
a
fourth course, Robert Trent Jones, that I have struck out on. If you know
anyone who is a member, let me know.
For those of you who haven't done the Plains count before, there is a world
class chile dinner and rally tally afterwords at Airlie -- always a lot of fun.
