I agree and was surprised by the cutoff. I assume the intent was to avoid
personal nastiness that sometimes has occurred. I did not take any of the
comments as overly personal and found the content really interesting.

I learned a lot myself and regret that discussions like this need to be
cut short. There is nothing about such a topic that is personal,
political, religious, or controversial in any way. It wasn't even a
matter of personal opinion. VA-Birders should be able to carry on a
dispassionate and polite exchange of ideas and references to the
literature on such an interesting subject.
