I have spent every January on Sanibel for several years now. Ding Darling
is best! Corkscrew Swamp [NAS] near Naples is a must, and manatees can be
found in any city that has a power plant. The outflow is warm water and
they congregate there. There is a Electrical Power plant east of Ft. Myers
and another very good one near Tampa above Sarasota.

The NASA area on the east coast is excellent too. If you go home that way do
leave time for it. Merritt Island.

But the place I love the best is Cape Coral, north of Ft. Myers. There you
can drive up and down the streets and find Burrowing owls!! Go to the
Public Library in Cape Coral and keep to the west of it and the houses.

And please buy the Florida Guide that Val Kitchens recommends. That's how
we all find these places. Mine is so old that often things have changed a
bit so be patient. And enjoy.

We have a cottage on West Gulf Dr. on Sanibel and will be there Jan. 4-25.
Look us up!
