This has been a very good year for the warbler migration at our home in
Evington, near Lynchburg. Since the end of April, we have seen 16 species
of warblers in the yard. One of the more interesting observations has
been that of a Tennessee Warbler visiting a hummingbird feeder on our
deck. It first appeared on May 13 and was seen twice at the feeder.
Today (the 14th) the bird was seen on the feeder three times. It seems
to be drinking the sugar-water. I have observed Baltimore Orioles using
the hummingbird feeder (and my flying squirrels sometimes feed from the
hummingbird feeders at night). However, this was the first time I've
seen a warbler drink from one...nice that it was a Tennessee.
