The Hampton Roads Birds club had it Monthly Bird trip to Eastern Shore
yesterday. The first stop was Island # 1, with the best bird being Oyster
catchers. we then birded from Kiptopeke to Oyster. After a visit to the
banding station and hawk watch at Kiptopeke State Park. We birding along Rt.
600 it was a might slow. WE meet with some visiting birders from England who
follower us to the north Hampton land fill at Oyster where we all were
Threatened to our best bird of the day a Swianson's Hawk. Other birds seen here
were Solitary Sand-piper, Ruddy Ducks, Black ducks Blue-winged teal, Little and
Great Blue Herons, Great and Snowy egrets.
There were around 200 lesser yellow legs and a lone S.B. Dowitcher in the down
off Oyster In all we had around 70 species. 10 species of hawks and 8 species
of warblers. I type to slow to list them all !
